How to make a protein shake?

Today we gonna talk about the importance of a protein shake, so why is is so important?

Ok so lets get started i must warn you first that I’m going to use the K.I.S principle so that mean I’m not going to explain about protein or amino accedes or glutamine and about the metabolism, we are just going to go over basic and give you what you really need.

So first thing thing I will start by asking you a question. For you… what is the most important meal of the day? Think about… if you just answered: breakfast, your wrong, most cases you are right but you are a person that train so the most important meal for you is the after workout meal, yep that’s right its the most important of them all.

During our workout our body breaks down muscle and the protein basically builds it up again and helps the body recover from the workout, that’s it in a nutshell, so when people ask me if its healthy to have a protein shake after workout i have to say that its not healthy to not! have protein shake right after you finished this goes for people who train in order to gain muscles mass and for those who just workout for fun or want to lose weight (yeah gaining muscle mass help to lose weight but we will talk about it some other time).

So we know now that after the workout its the best time to consume protein but then again sometime people ask me why a protein shake? Well I’m not going to get into the process of making a protein shake but lets just say the after a good workout your muscles takes lots of the blood because they was active and you stomach don’t work the same as before the workout at that stage, so its important that we will be able to consume fast absorbing protein, for those of you who eat tuna or egg white or cottage cheese, its really not the same it takes time for that kind of protein to absorbed and after workout we have a period of of up to 30 or 45 min when our body can consomme the highest amount of protein during the day, we call that a window of opportunity, so don’t miss that window, anyway lots of time people eat tuna with oil or fat cottage cheese, the fat and other ingredients that can be found in this kinds of food is really bad for you and also prevent from proteins to break down in our body and that makes the absorbed process even slower.

Ok so why did i choose the Optimum Nutrition’s 100% Whey Protein as your protein, well basically two reasons, because:

A. It really works, I use it myself and a lot of my client also use it, and you can see the results, the problem with other protein shakes is that they just don’t do anything for us so you just end up wasting your money.

B. It taste really good, have many flavors you can choose from, and they all taste great! I know it don’t really matter because the things you gain form this protein shake is much more then taste, but hey if you can have fun along they way so why not J its really good!

So how do you make the shake? Ok its real easy, you get a scoop inside, you put one scoop inside a shaker or a empty bottle, take it with you to the gym, remember you only have up to 45 min to drink so its the most effective that way, if you can get home in that time, not this is important don’t mix the water or milk until your ready to drink it, lots of people just mix it at home drive to they gym, workout and only then drink its not a good idea so don’t its better when mix right before you drink.

What can i mix it with? Well this is really important, no juice! The best thing is water if you like to give it a little bit more flavor you can use milk, but only if you use low fat milk, 1% fat or less i highly recommend you don’t use more then that because it will prevent the absorbing of the protein, lots of people ask me how much water or low fat milk to you need to put there well its a matter of taste if you like it thicker or thinner other then that its really don’t matter
